Dr. Raymond O. Frankow, M.D.
Dr. Raymond O. Frankow, M.D., age of 98, of West Bend, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2006 at his residence. He was born April 20, 1908 in Green Bay to the late Otto and Otilia (nee Mehlberg) Frankow and married Elinor M. Turrish on Sept. 3, 1935 in Fond du Lac.
Raymond graduated from Gillett High School in 1926. He worked at his undergraduate studies at Marquette University from 1927 to 1929 and graduated from Marquette University School of Medicine in 1934. He went on to serve his internship at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Dr. Frankow established his medical practice in West Bend in 1934, serving the community for 45 years before retiring.
He was on staff at St. Joseph's Community Hospital in West Bend, a member of the Wisconsin State Medical Society and served as the Washington County Coroner for 14 years. Dr. Frankow was the past president of the Marquette Alumni Association and a recipient of the Marquette University Service Award in 1976. He was an avid fan of Marquette Basketball and the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years Elinor, five daughters: Barbara (Dr. Maury) Graves, Kathleen (Atty. Richard) Chabot, Patricia (Dr. Carl) Moyer, Charlotte Boyle and Rosemary (the late Dr. James) Roberts, 18 granddchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Dr. Adrian Frankow.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church in West Bend with Rev. Jeffery Haines presiding. Please meet at church for Mass. Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to the West Bend Food Pantry are suggested.
