Randolph "Randy" Karl Joers
Randolph "Randy" Karl Joers, 77, passed away in Tucson, Ariz. on Friday, Sept. 15, 2006 from leukemia.
He was born July 14, 1929 in Milwaukee, to Carl and Anna Joers.
He spent all his childhood in Milwaukee, except for one year when he was 9 years old, and was in his parents’ native Germany, an experience that was an important part of his upbringing.
Back in Wisconsin, he graduated from Rufus King High School where he made many lifelong friends.
In 1951, Randy became a Milwaukee police officer and served on the force for 31 years, spending his most memorable times patrolling the Lake Michigan waters on the police boat.
The highlight of his life was when he married Helen Peiss on May 3, 1968. Together they lived in Milwaukee until moving to Arizona in 1992.
During his retirement he enjoyed visits from friends and family, corresponding with his German pen pals, his daily fitness regimen, including swimming at the pool every day, and especially the blue skies and warm weather of the southwest.
Randy is survived by his wife, Helen; a son, Robert (Cindy) Joers and their children, Alex, Brett and Mattie; daughters, Laurie (Larry) Crass and their children, Kevin, Kelly and Katy; Deborah Kuetzing and her children, Heather, Ryan (Amanda) and Chris (Gretchen) Burg; and Karen Rooney and her children, Kevin, Eric (BriAnna) and Scott (Kara Berg) Rooney.
He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Aubri, Ash-ton and Kaden Rooney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Gerhard; and a grandson, Jack Henry Joers.
He will be sadly missed by friends and family.
Zu allen meinen deutschen Freunden und Verwandten, ich sage ihnen Lebewohl.
Friends are invited to celebrate Randy’s life on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at the Pine Lawn Memorial Chapel, 10700 W. Capital Drive in Milwaukee.
