Robert Baus

Robert Baus died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday April 7, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 70 years.

Bob was the owner of Baus Meat Market in Hartford and the current owner of B & B Trailers in Hartford. He was the chief of the Hartford Fire Department for 29 years, and a member of the department for 43 years. Bob was a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association, the Washington County Fire Chiefs Association, the Dodge County Fire Chiefs Association and a life member of the Hartford American Legion Post #19.

He served his country in the U.S. Army and National Guard 32nd Division for over eight years. Bob loved his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He had a passion for his businesses and enjoyed developing them. Bob appreciated all the people he came in contact and worked with.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 46 years, Pat (nee Schumacher). Loving father of Jack (Cyndi) Baus, Jim (Colleen) Baus, and Eileen Baus. Precious grandfather of Ben, Andy, Jake, and Allison Baus. Dear brother of Norman (Jo) Baus and Rosemary (Frank) Brown. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Frances Baus; his granddaughter, Jillian Baus; and by his in-laws, Herbert and Bernadette Schumacher and Ralph Schumacher.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Bob was Monday, April 9, 2007 at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford. Visitation was at Church prior to the service. Closing of the casket prayers were that night, with Fr. David LaPlante officiating.

The military graveside service was Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at St. Kilian Cemetery under the auspices of Hartford American Legion Post #19.
