Merwyn J. Robertson

Merwyn J. Robertson, 84, passed away Friday, April 6, 2007 at his home in West Bend.

Merwyn was born on Feb. 15, 1923 to the late Warner H. Robertson and Mary Irene (nee Booton) Robertson in Chicago, Illinois.

He graduated from Hirsch High School in Chicago, and from Northwestern University, earning a bachelor of arts degree in 1949.

His education was interrupted by World War II, during which he served with the 45th Infantry Division in Italy. He was wounded at the Anzio Beach Head, and later discharged from service.

In 1951, Merwyn married Maxine Green of Evanston, Ill. She passed away on July 18, 1996.

They had three children, Marcia R. (Todd) Putney of Kodiak, Alaska, Scott W. (Susette) Robertson of West Bend and Paul K. (Sue Harris) Robertson of Chicago; two granddaughters; five grandsons; two great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

He worked for the Northern Illinois Gas Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1986.

Merwyn and his wife loved to travel. They took several bus tours of Europe and 14 cruises to the Mediterranean area, the South Pacific and Alaska.

His final years were devoted to assisting at Our Saviorís Lutheran Church and painting in the art class.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Merwyn will be held on Monday, April 16, at 10 a.m. at Our Saviorís Lutheran Church, 1044 S. Silverbrook Drive, West Bend.

Visitation with family and friends will be held at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow the funeral service on Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, Ill..
