Lawrence "Jinx" Gnerlich

Lawrence "Jinx" Gnerlich, 85, of Mayville, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Aurora Medical Center in Hartford. He was born March 24, 1922 to Gustav and Laura (nee Dahm) Gnerlich in the town of Lomira. On Nov. 1, 1947 he was united in marriage with Mildred M. Handel in Iron Ridge. Lawrence was retired from Service Printing & Publishing in Mayville after 42 years of employment.

He was a member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge. Jinx proudly served his country during WW2 and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a member of Mayville American Legion Post #69.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Mildred; a son, Rodney (Sandra) Gnerlich of Cedarburg; a brothers Lester "Bunny" (Marion) Gnerlich of Mayville; sisters-in-laws, Gertrude Gnerlich of Mayville and Rose Gnerlich of West Bend; and a brother-in-law, Merlin Handel of Hustisford. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preced in death by his parents; two brothers, Leslie and Clarence; and two sisters, Verna Kunz and Alice Elitzer.

The funeral service for Lawrence was Saturday, April 21, 2007 at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, with Rev. Larry Mose officiating. Visitation was on Saturday at the church prior to the service. Burial was Saturday in St. Matthew Cemetery and Mayville American Legion Post #69 conducted graveside military rites.
