Joyce Neu

Joyce Neu (nee Connell) of Hartford passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, Aug. 13, 2007 at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford. She was 69 years old.

She was born Feb. 10, 1938 in Hartford to Elmer and Nellie (nee Lindstedt) Connell. Joyce married Leland Neu on Dec. 1, 1956, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Neosho.

Joyce was a homemaker. She enjoyed baking, rummaging, playing sheepshead and had a gift for quilt making. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Leland; her children, Greg (Chris) of Mayville, Robert (Nan) of Milwaukee, Ronald (Cheryl) of Oak Creek, Guy (Donna) of Pleasant Prairie, and Michele (Steven) Strupp of Allenton; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer (Rich) Kohls, Michael (Mary) Lenz, both of Milwaukee, Jamie (Michael) Stamm of Hartford, Meredith Neu of Milwaukee, Michael DeBauche of West Allis, Matthew Neu of Oak Creek, Christina Neu of Milwaukee, Leah Neu of New Mexico, Tyler Neu of Oak Creek, Luke Strupp of Allenton, Joshua Neu of Pleasant Prairie, Lindsay Strupp of Allenton, and Brad Neu of Pleasant Prairie; 12, great-grandchildren, Aidan Kohls, Parker and Paige Lenz, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Shawn and Tyler Stamm, Destiny and Immanuel Joseph, Sebashtian and Kaydence DeBauche and Jayla Webb; her mother-in-law, Beatrice Neu of Neosho; her brothers and sisters, Ruby Christianson of Hartford, Leo Connell of Hartford, Rodney (Mary) Connell of Georgia, Shirley (Charles) Shortt of Hartford; and her sisters-in-law, Ann Connell of Oconomowoc, Audrey Neu of Menomonee Falls, Eleanor Schuett of Clyman, Joan Nehls of Hustisford, Agnes Neu of Neosho, and Annette (Charles) Hahn of Neosho. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Joyce.

The Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, Aug. 17, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Lawrence, with Father Joseph Dominic officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007 at Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford from 4-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be at St. Bartholomew Cemetery, Rubicon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Lung Association are appreciated.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Cedar Lake Rehabilitation Center in West Bend and the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford for providing wonderful care to Joyce during this difficult time.
