John H. Degner

John H. Degner, 82, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007 at Kathy Hospice.

John was born on Sept. 27, 1924, the son of John and Minnie (nee Bratz) Degner.

He honorably served his country with the United States Navy during World War II, aboard the Intrepid.

On Oct. 9, 1948, he devoted his love and his life to Lorraine Eickstedt, and the couple began a loving family of their own.

John was a long-time member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church in West Bend.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife and best friend, Lorraine; his dear son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Oleta Degner of New Mexico; three cherished grandchildren, Levi (Heather) Degner, Drew (Pam) Degner and Jory (Brian) Walker; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Alice Eickstedt and Hildegard Eickstedt.

He will also be missed by his niece, nephew, other special relatives and dear friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and two brothers-in-law, Norman and Walter Eickstedt.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, Aug. 23, from 4 until 5 p.m. at St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church, 809 S. Sixth Ave., West Bend, followed by a memorial service at the church.

Interment will take place at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg on Friday at 11 a.m.
