John T. Ewing

John T. Ewing, 77, of Hartford, beloved husband of the late Phyllis, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Bend.

He was born May 12, 1930 in Waukesha to Stewart and Aileen (nee Pugh) Ewing, and married Phyllis Mangino on Sept. 9, 1950 at the Bay View Bethel Church.

John was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Hartford and sang in the menís choir.

He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and the Tripoli Shrine.

John graduated in 1948 from Bay View High School and was a member of the cross country team and the gymnastics team.

He lived in the Milwaukee area until moving to Hartford in 1992.

John was very involved with his family and loved them dearly.

He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Steven) Meyer of Allenton; his son, John S. "Jack" (Veronica) Ewing of Hartford; four grandchildren, Scott Meyer, Alec Ewing, Camila Ewing and Angelique (Bryan) Goetsch; three sisters, Nancy (Tom) Luedcke of Hartford, Sally (Fred) Thome of Fond du Lac and Ellen Sestak of Downers Grove, Ill.; and a brother, Robert (Beverly) Ewing of St. Francis.

John is further survived by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; his parents; and his sister, Mary (Wes) Hopper.

Funeral services for John will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 738 W. Monroe St., Hartford, with Rev. Brian Kundinger and Chap-lain Susan Kolb of Cedar Com-munity co-officiating.

Family will greet relatives and friends on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the church.

Inurnment will be in Washing-ton County Memorial Park, West Bend.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Cedar Lake Health Care Center or the Medical College of Wisconsin (M.C.W.) Dept. of Neurology, are appreciated.
