LaVerne J. Sorchy

Funeral services will be held for LaVerne J. Sorchy (nee Probeck) of Cedarburg at 7 p.m. today, Aug. 28, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg.

LaVerne passed away on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007 at the age of 86.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Entombment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

LaVerne was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Aug. 13, 1921, daughter of the late Mable and John Probeck. She married Anthony "Tony" J. Sorchy on June 7, 1941. They lived in Ohio and Michigan before moving to Cedarburg in 1974. Tony and LaVerne enjoyed 62 wonderful years of marriage.

LaVerne was a devoted mother to her four children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook, garden and crochet.

You could always count on her for her quick wit, interesting stories and honest opinions.

Her last year was spent at Lasata Care Center. The family truly appreciates the compassionate care that the staff on 2 West gave her during her stay.

LaVerne is survived by her children Tom (Val) Sorchy and Linda (Robert "Gus") Carver of Cedarburg, and Terry Sorchy of Brodhead; daughter-in-law Barbara Sorchy of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada; grandchildren Lauren (Tim) Roob of Port Washington, Kris (Chris) Comeaux of Boston, Mass., LeeAnn (Tim) White of Vilsec, Germany, Tony Sorchy of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Megan Carver of Milwaukee, Calvin Sorchy of Monroe and Michael Carver of Cedarburg; great-grandchildren Cameron and Hailey Roob; sister Betty (Don) Parsons of Cleveland, Ohio; and brother-in-law Steve (Lois) Sorchy of Dublin, Ohio.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband Tony; her son Tim; and her grandson Austin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lasata Care Center or the Cedarburg Library Building Fund are appreciated.
