Alvin "Al" C. Mantel

Funeral services for Alvin "Al" C. Mantel of Germantown were held on Dec. 7 at Faith Lutheran Church in Germantown.

Al entered into eternal life at the age of 70 on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007 at Community Mem-orial Hospital in Menom-onee Falls.

The Rev. Thomas Kaul officiated the funeral service.

Visitation was held on Friday at the church and entombment took place at Wisconsin Memorial Park on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg served the family.

Alvin Mantel was born on Dec. 27, 1936 in Milwaukee, son of Adolph Mantel and Julia (nee Tanel) Mantel.

Al graduated from Grafton High School and later married Patricia Dowe at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Lakefield on May 19, 1954. Their marriage was blessed with three children.

Al was the owner and operator of Mantel Machine Products where he had worked since 1951. He semiretired from his company last February and now his three children run the family business.

Al truly loved bowhunting and was a member of OJIBWA. When he couldnít hunt on his land in Split Rock, Al enjoyed woodworking, but his true love was spending time with his family at their lake home in Pardeeville.

Al was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Germantown for the past 40 years. He was also a history buff. He enjoyed listening and talking about all kinds of history especially at the Rose-Harms Post in Grafton at their monthly meetings.

Al will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Al is survived by his wife of 53 years Patricia (nee Dowe) Mantel of Germantown; his children Dale (Arleen) Mantel of Richfield, Dawn Carranza of Slinger and Dean (Paula) Mantel of Cedarburg; grandchildren Tony, Jim, Michelle, Brandon, Travis, Kel-sey, Chase, Tanner, Max, Luke and Makenna; brother Robert Mantel of Brookfield; sister-in-law Carol Eberhardt; and brothers-in-law Harry (Donna) Dowe and John (Mavis) Dowe. He is further survived by other relatives, friends and business associates.

Al was preceded in death by his parents Adolph Mantel and Julia (nee Tanel) Mantel; and his brother-in-law Richard Eberhardt.
