Oliver H. Locklair
Oliver H. Locklair went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at the age of 87.
Ollie was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Frances.
He was the devoted father of Gary and his wife Karen; grandfather "Pop" to Joshua, his wife Joya, Sabrina, her husband Geoff, David, his wife Kallie, Daniel and Valerie; and proud great-grandfather to Josh and Joya’s Tessa Michelle.
Survivors also include a sister, Daisy Cotton, and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Ollie was born March 29, 1920 in St. Stephen, S.C.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942, and served as an aircraft machinist mate aboard the aircraft carriers Bunker Hill and Wasp, earning special service citations while his units earned Presidential citations.
Ollie saw service from the South Pacific to Africa during World War II.
Following six years of service in the Navy, he worked at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, Calif., for over 25 years, maintaining and supervising aircraft which saw service in Korea and Vietnam.
Ollie was active in churches he was a member of, serving on numerous boards and leadership positions.
He helped in the building of three mission churches, Zion Lutheran in Sacramento, Beautiful Savior Lutheran in Boise, Idaho, and St. Andrew Lutheran in West Bend.
A memorial service confirming the assurance of eternal life will be held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 7750 N. Highway 144, West Bend, on Friday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Robert Korytkowski officiating.
A private entombment with military honors will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
