Hilda I. Maas

Hilda I. Maas, 91, of Hartford passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007.

She was born Aug. 10, 1916 in Lowell, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (nee Gernetzke) Mertz.

Hilda, along with her first husband, owned and operated the Gerber Cheese Store in downtown Hartford for 35 years.

Herman Gerber passed away in 1959.

She met Dale Maas and later married him June 28, 1982 at St. Johnís United Church of Christ in Hartford.

Hilda was a member of Hartford Senior Friends and a longtime member of St. Johnís United Church of Christ.

She was also proud to be a 66- year member of Hartford Ameri-can Legion Auxiliary.

Hilda is survived and will be deeply missed by her husband, Dale.

She is the dearest sister of Mae Schwensow of Juneau, Mabel Schumacher of Fond du Lac, Vida Stueber of Juneau, Ervin (Ruth) Mertz of West Bend, Otto Mertz 0f Beaver Dam and Lyle Mertz of Fond du Lac.

Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, in Hartford.

Seniors Friends funeral ceremony will commence at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Fridayís visitation will be at St. Johnís United Church of Christ from noon until 2 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m.

Rev. Verlin Wandrey will officiate, and interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
