Joyce Veronica Stockhausen

Joyce Veronica Stockhausen, 57, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 in her West Bend home with her family by her side. She fought a courageous battle for the last year and finally has eternal peace.

Joyce was born Aug. 16, 1950 in West Bend to the late Jerome and Marie (nee Schladweiler) Stockhausen, and attended St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Grade School and West Bend High School.

After high school she attended Milwaukee County General School of Nursing and graduated with her degree in 1971.

She worked as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s in Milwaukee, St. Joseph’s Community Hospital in West Bend and for 25 years at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.

Joyce was dedicated, committed and caring to all of the people whom she cared for during her nursing career. She was a talented nurse and was there in her patients’ time of need.

She married James Wiegert on June 23, 1973 at St. Frances Cabrini Church in West Bend.

Joyce had always resided in West Bend and was a lifelong member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend.

Her hobbies included gardening, reading and taking family vacations.

She often said her grandchildren were really her "only hobby" and the "love of her life."

Joyce is survived by her three children, Paul Wiegert and her twins Philip Wiegert and Eliza-beth (Brian) Bourke; and her three adored grandchildren, Katelynn, Connor and Logan.

She is further survived by her sister, Janet Stockhausen; her brother, John (Diane) Stock-hausen; a nephew, Bradley; a niece, Ashley; and other relatives and numerous friends.

She will forever be in our hearts and in the hearts of so many that she touched.

Joyce was greeted in heaven by her much missed parents; her aunt, Veronica Peters who was her godmother; her uncle, Cyril Stockhausen who was her god-father; and other family and friends who have gone before her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend, with Rev. Jeffrey Haines presiding.

Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery, West Bend.

Visitation will be Saturday, at the church only from 9 until 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Grade School in Jefferson, where her grandchildren attend, the Samaritan Health Center where she was a faithful nurse or the charity of the donor’s choice.

The Schmidt Funeral Home of West Bend is serving the family.

Joyce’s family would like to thank all the people who took care of Joyce this last year, and friends and family who gave their time to be with her. We are forever grateful for the joy you brought to her.
