Muriel T. Fleming

Muriel T. Fleming, nee Titus, 93, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, on the day that would have been her 69th wedding anniversary, at the Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.

She was born on June 27, 1913 in Paterson, N.J., to the late Walter and Florence (nee Mills) Titus.

Following her high school graduation, Muriel became a secretary for a bank on Wall Street in New York City.

She was united in marriage to James Edward Fleming on Feb. 12, 1938. Together they raised three children in Wyckoff, N.J.

James passed away on Feb. 14, 1973.

In 1999 Muriel moved from New Jersey to West Bend to live with her daughter, Bev and family. She spent many happy years in Wis-consin enjoying her family and the love that they gave her.

Muriel was the consummate lady and the world’s best mother-in-law.

She enjoyed being outside in her garden, and she also enjoyed sewing, baking and was an incessant reader.

She was blessed with a gift of service and enjoyed sharing her gift through countless hours of volunteer work with the Women’s Club of Wyckoff.

Muriel will also be remembered for her love of hot fudge sundaes and chocolate chip cookies.

Survivors include three children, James W. (Vicki) Fleming of Lake Tomahawk, Bev (Don) Smith of West Bend and Jane (Dave) Hitchcoff of Montville, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Jamey and Lissy Fleming, Jason (Lindsay) Gould, Dan Smith, and Amy, Jeff, Michael and Alison Hitchcoff; and a sister, E. Jean Paterson of Pahoa, Hawaii.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A memorial service in celebration of Muriel’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend.

Pastor Mike Moran of Kettlebrook Church in West Bend will officiate.

Visitation with the family will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service, and a reception gathering will follow the memorial service.

Memorials to the Kathy Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
