Elwin H. Auchtung
Elwin H. Auchtung, 81, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at Shorehaven Health Care Center in Oconomowoc. He was born April 29, 1925 in Larsen to Theodore and Elsa (nee Monteufel) Auchtung. On March 18, 1944, he was united in marriage with Ruth E. Weiss at Oshkosh Baptist Temple. He moved to Oconomowoc in 1944 from Oshkosh and dairy farmed until 1962.
He then worked at the Aunt Nellie’s Canning Factory, Rolefson Construction and Waukesha Motors.
In 1965, he was employed by Oconomowoc schools as a maintenance man until retirement.
Elwin was an expert in woodworking and made many pieces of furniture for his children and grandchildren. He was a charter member since 1948 of the Alliance Bible Church in Oconomowoc.
He is survived by his children, Steven (Nancy) Auchtung of Oakfield, Janice (Bill) Atwood of Elkhart, Ind., Laura (Joel) Gephart of Oconomowoc and Luanne (Larry) Edelstein of Horicon; grandchildren, Tim (Mellissa) Erdmann, Tom Atwood, Sarah (special friend, Greg Brockway) Erdmann, Tony Auchtung, Kristaline (Troy) Teuchtler, Kyle Gephart, Katherine, Madeline and Aaron Edelstein; great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Julianna, Arianna, Matthew and Nicholas; and daughter-in-law, Glenda (August) Hacker of Huntington, Ind. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Elwin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; daughters, Judith Ann and Julie; son, Keith; and a brother, Walden.
The funeral service for Elwin was Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007 at Alliance Bible Church, with Revs. Don Gephart and Mark Rydberg officiating. Visitation was a the church prior to the service. Interment was in Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
