Rudolph "Rudy" John Moede
Rudolph "Rudy" John Moede of Mayville died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at Mayville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 92. He was born Feb. 4, 1915 in Shawano County to Adolph and Wilhelmina (nee Toellner) Moede. On Dec. 5, 1942, he was united in marriage with Erna Wegner (nee Mussack).
Rudy retired from John Deere Horicon Works in 1973. He was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville.
Rudy enjoyed camping with the Mayville Fireside Campers, playing cards with the John Deere Spitfires and he was a member of the Mayville Senior Center.
Rudy was known as the "Bicycle Man" in the surrounding area. He was the one to go to when your bike needed repairs.
He was always ready to help a child whose bicycle was broken or help someone who needed to purchase an inexpensive bike.
Everyone will also remember Rudy selling Christmas trees, when he wasn’t playing Santa Claus, for over 30 years at Lichtenberg Farms.
Rudy was the loving father of six children and two stepchildren.
He is survived by stepson Roger (Jackie) Schiess of Mayville; children, Myrna Michaels of Waukesa, Jerry (Diane) Moede of Mayville, Roy (Beth) Moede of Arden, N.C., Larry Moede of Horicon, Donna (Walter) Bushkie of Horicon, and Loren Moede of Horicon; sister, Esther Engel of Bonduel; 12 grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and he is further suvived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Erna, in 2001; stepdaughter, Ethel Heinecke; two brothers, Harold and Clarence; and one sister, Helen Sterr.
The funeral service for Rudy was Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville, with Rev. James Mallmann officiating.
Interment was at St. John Cemetery in Mayville.
Visitation was Saturday at the church prior to the service.
Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville served the family.
