George Carl Edwin Wendt
George Carl Edwin Wendt, of West Bend, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, after 90 years of life.
George was born on July 6, 1916, the son of Otto August and Ruth Clara (nee Schulz) Wendt in Watertown, where he was also raised.
After graduating from Watertown High School in 1936, George entered the National Guard, and was able to travel throughout the United States while serving his country.
He became a dedicated employee of The West Bend Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1981.
In 1943, he married Florence Emma Watson, who preceded him in death. George remarried twice in his lifetime, once in 1963 to Dawn Eda and the second time in 1987 to Mary Harriet.
His favorite pastimes were gardening, Christmas tree farming, woodworking and repairing televisions.
George was a member of the 25-Year Club at The West Bend Co. He was also a member of Taxpayers Against Airport Growth/Watershed Watchers and the Wisconsin Wetlands Association.
George faithfully attended each one his high school class reunions.
George will be deeply missed by his nine cherished children, Bette Renae Pouros of Kewas-kum, Marlene Elaine Wendt of Milwaukee, Dennis Robert Wendt of West Bend, GeorgeAnn (Rick) Wiedmeyer of Adell, George Jr. (Melissa) Wendt of Kewaskum, CarlEda LaScelle of West Bend, Carl (Karen) Wendt of Lomira, Dawn (John) Mineau of West Bend and Kenneth Wendt of Jackson; his treasured grandchildren, Desmond, Andrew, Eric, Kattarina, Alyssa, Jade, Edwin, Justin, Alexander, Jake, Kara, AudreyAnna, AmberLynn and Tony; his step-grandchildren, Angie, Greta, Matthew, Randi, Reagan, Heather and Nicole; one sister, Sylvia Staude of Watertown; and two ex-wives, Dawn Eda and Mary Harriet.
He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, other special relatives and many dear friends.
George was greeted at the gates of heaven by his parents; his wife, Florence Emma; three brothers, Otto, Robert and Fred; a sister, Lucille; a son, Edwin; and a granddaughter, Ciara.
A funeral service in honor of George will be held on Friday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend.
Visitation with family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m.
Interment will take place in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown at noon on Saturday.
