A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated for Norbert Brackmann of Mequon on Feb. 19 at Lumen Christi Catholic Church in Mequon.
Norb passed away at his residence in the early morning hours of Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007 at the age of 68. The Rev. Peter Berger celebrated the Mass. Family received visitors at the church prior to the funeral Mass. Entombment took place at St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Port Washington. The Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Norbert "Norb" was born in Milwaukee on June 22, 1938, son of Joseph and Anna Adamowski Brackmann. After high school, Norb entered into service with the U.S. Coast Guard. After his service, he was united in marriage with Judith M. Brahm on Aug. 20, 1960 at St. John DeNepomuc Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple settled in Wauwatosa and started their family. In 1973, they moved to Mequon. Norb worked as a machinist at Kearney & Trecker in Milwaukee. He later advanced to purchasing agent. He also worked at Trak International in Port Washington and recently had been a caretaker at the Art Kroos lake estate.
Norb enjoyed hunting and fishing and had enjoyed being a member of the Ozaukee Fish & Game Club for many years. His family remembers him as a nice, easy-going, lovable man and a humble person. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Brackmann is survived by his sons Paul of Mequon and Joseph (Sherry) of West Bend; his grandchildren Krystal and Joey Brackmann of West Bend; his sister, Sister Anne Brackmann of the Carmelite Monastery of Terre Haute, Ind.; his mother-in-law Bessie Brahm of Fredonia; and his sister-in-law Joanne Wetor of Grafton. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Norb was preceded in death by his wife Judith and his parents.
