Marvin H. Groth

Marvin H. Groth, 69, of Mayville, died on Monday, Feb. 19, 2007 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison.

He was born Dec. 26, 1937 in West Bend to Edgar and Julia (nee Frommholz) Groth, and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Jackson.

He graduated in 1955 from West Bend High School.

On June 6, 1959, Marvin married Lois Keup at Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church), town of Theresa.

He was employed at the West Bend Co. until he joined his father in farming.

In 1965, Marvin purchased a farm in the town of Herman where he lived up until his death.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church), serving in various positions on the church council.

Marvin served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Tarawa in 1956 and 1957.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and traveling with his wife throughout the state and to his lake cottage in northern Wisconsin.

Survivors include his wife, Lois; four children, Cheryl (Jeff) Giese of Wisconsin Dells, David (Arlesse) Groth of Mayville, John (Debra) Groth of Campbellsport and Paul (Sara) Groth of Brillion; grandchildren, Jeremy (Megan) Giese, Janel Giese, Megan, Katie and Kari Groth, Corin, Nicholas and Adam Groth and Jacob and Julia Groth; sisters and brothers, Robert (Lois) Groth and Marilyn (Eldred) Gierach, both of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Martin (Gertrude) Keup of Theresa; a sister-in-law, Virginia (Herman) Laabs of Mesa, Ariz.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 23, at 1:30 p.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church), town of Theresa.

Rev. Mark Berlin will be the officiant, and burial will be in Hochheim Cemetery, town of Herman.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, and also on Friday at the church from noon until 1:30 p.m.
