George S. Carnell
George S. Carnell, 100, of West Bend, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007 at his residence in Cedar Bay East at Cedar Community. He was born Sept. 9, 1906 in Comfrey, Minn. to the late George and Edna (nee Erion) Carnell.
He married Martha Hanish on Dec. 19, 1935 in Sanborn, Minn. Martha preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 2003. George attended grade school in Statley Township and then graduated from Comfrey High School in 1924. He owned and operated a trucking business until 1937, when he became employed at Wiley Co. in St. Paul, Minn. In 1941, they moved to Milwaukee where he worked at Allis Chalmers until 1945, when he became employed at Cleaver Brooks in Milwaukee until retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Boilermakers/Blacksmiths Union.
He is survived by four children, Marilyn (Harry) Radtke of Germantown, Ronald (Joan) Carnell of Brookfield, George (Judy) Carnell of Hartford and Dale (Diane) Carnell of Grafton; and six grandchildren, Rhonda (Todd) Weber of Germantown, George (Kim) Radtke of Jackson, Liesl (David) Thomas Germantown, David (Janelle) Carnell of Brookfield, Michael (Terri) Carnell of Neshota and Kevin (Kate) Carnell of Milwaukee. He is further survived by eight great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Carnell; and four brothers, Kenneth, Donald, John and Harry Carnell.
The funeral service for George was Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007 at Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Hartford, with Rev. Rickey Schroeder officiating. Visitation was Saturday prior to the service. Burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hartford followed the service.
