Mike Barrett will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be held this evening, Feb. 27, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton. Interment will take place at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Cemetery in Mequon.
Eric J. Fredrickson was born on March 13, 1952, in Adak, Alaska, son of John and Shirley Fredrickson.
Eric loved airplanes, soccer, a nice cold beer at the end of a hard day’s work, but above all things he loved his family, who will never forget the love he shared and will always have him in their hearts, thoughts and mind. He would spend the year looking forward to the week-long vacation up north with his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, parents, nieces and nephews. After a day’s work at the Grafton Water and Wastewater Treatment plant, he would bike home, and as the rest of the house went to bed he could be found listening to some classical music, book at hand in his chair underneath the reading light (which his family affectionately referred to as the alien light).
Eric encouraged his children to be the best that they possibly could be, and supported them in following their passions. He would frequently be found behind the camera at his children’s events. Favorite memories of his family will always be sitting in front a good Jerry Lewis, Peter Sellars or Chevy Chase movie and watching him laugh hysterically while laughing along with him (or at him). He had the old-fashioned Fredrickson laugh.
Eric enjoyed being outdoors, swimming, working on the house and water skiing. He served as a helicopter mechanic in the U.S. Airforce for four years, taking him around the country as he began his family. As the boys grew up along came the girls, all of whom he loved and sheltered with everything he had. His friends and family will always remember his classic catch phrase, "What?" Eric had a radiating smile that will continue to shine down upon all his loved ones.
Eric is survived by his wife Betty (nee Scherer); his children Ryan (Rebecca), Jamie (fiancé Sarah), Jason, Rebecca and Elizabeth; grandchildren Thomas and Ben; parents John and Shirley Fredrickson; siblings Jackie (Steve) Fredrickson, Bonnie Bloomquist, Kurt (Linda) Fredrickson, Marc Fredrickson, Heidi (Rick) Schmidt, Sally Fredrickson and Dirk Fredrickson. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
