Gail J. Bemis

Funeral services were held on Jan. 8 for Gail J. Bemis (nee Hiam) of Cedarburg, who died on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at the age of 73. Visitation was held at St. Francis Borgia North Catholic Church in Cedarburg, prior to the service. The Rev. Tom Eichenberger officiated the funeral liturgy. Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg served the family.

Gail was born on June 15, 1933 in Flint, Mich., to the late Roy Hiam and Madonna (nee Derosha) Hiam-Danielson. On Feb. 9, 1952, she married John Bemis in Shawano. Their marriage was blessed with six children.

Gail was a member of the ladies golf leagues in both West Bend and Grafton. She enjoyed spending time with her "Kohlís Group," a group that got together from the old Kohlís grocery store. Gail also enjoyed golfing, cooking, reading and crafts but her true love was spending time with her family.

Gail is survived by her husband John Bemis of Grafton; children Brian (fiancée Dennise) Bemis of Pleasant Prairie, Catherine (Leon) Rucktenwald of Cedarburg, Linda (Steven) Martin of St. Paul, Minn., Jeanne (Paul) Wonders of Theresa and Jeff (Mary) Bemis of Theresa; grandchildren Samantha, Amelia, Matthew, Brad, Rebecca, Eliese, Tannie, Kayleigh, Kelsey, Katie, William, Jessica, Sarah, Julia, Christina, Richard, Bradley and Tracey; great-grandchildren Rowen and Connor; father Louis Danielson of West Bend; siblings Louis (Darlene) Danielson of Cecil, Janice Krueger of Las Vegas, Nev. and Daniel (Sharon) Danielson of West Bend. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

Gail was preceded in death by her natural parents; her daughter Rebecca Bemis; granddaughter Jennifer Bemis; and brother George Hiam.
