Calvin Gustave Genz

Calvin Gustave Genz, of West Bend, passed away at Synergy- Health St. Joseph’s Hospital on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, after 83 years of life.

Calvin was born on Dec. 23, 1923, the son of Gustave and Emma (nee Welke) Genz in Sauk City, and graduated from Sauk Prairie High School.

In 1947, Calvin married his first wife, Marilyn McConnell. After marriage, the couple brought four loving children into the world.

In 1981, Marilyn passed away.

Calvin later met Eleanor Holzmann, whom he eventually married on Aug. 12, 1989 in Newburg. Calvin welcomed two dear stepdaughters into his family.

During his free time, Calvin enjoyed gardening, playing cards with his coworkers at the dairy plant and was a devoted Cubs and Packers fan.

He also had a passion for a wide variety of handyman work, and will be remembered for being a man of many trades.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Eleanor Holzmann; his children, Cheryl Genz of West Bend, Linda (John) Ernest of Hartland, Gary (Lynn) Genz of Eden, Patricia (Jeff) Otten of West Bend, Wendy (Louis) Genz-Vanderveen of California and Linda (Bruce) Bliefnick of Fond du Lac; 11 dear grandchildren, and seven adored great-grandchildren.

Calvin will also be remembered by his nieces, nephews, other special relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marilyn, in 1981; two brothers, John and Norman; two sisters, Amy and Edna; and his great-granddaughter, Destiny.

A funeral service in honor of Calvin will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 1 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, with Rev. Fredrich officiating.

Visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m.

Entombment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, on Friday at 10:30 a.m.
