Camilla Gruenwald Wegner

Funeral services were held on Jan. 18 at Grace Lutheran Church in Thiensville for Camilla Gruenwald Wegner (nee Wiese) of Thiensville. Camilla died peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007 at Cedar Springs Rehabilitation Center.

Camilla was born Oct. 6, 1918 to Edwin and Elsie Wiese. She lived in the house her father built in Thiensville until she moved to Cedar Springs Rehabilitation Center in 1999. She was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Thiensville, of which her parents were charter members, since 1929.

Camilla attended Carroll College in Waukesha and kept up with her classmates through a round robin letter for most of her life. She married Raymond (Casey) Wegner in 1946. She was widowed in 1967. In 1972, she married Vernon Gruenwald. Vernon also preceded her in death in 1993.

After her first husband’s death, Camilla worked as a teller at First Wisconsin of Mequon (now US Bank) for 22 years. She enjoyed both her work as a teller and the lasting friendships she made working there.

Throughout her life, Camilla loved to dine out with family and friends and loved to travel, whether the trip was long or short. She also enjoyed winning, whether it was on the basketball court, in a bowling league, at the casinos or at bingo at "the Springs."

Camilla is survived by her sons Richard Wegner (fiancˇe Pat) and Rene (Cheryl) Wegner; and stepchildren Kathy (Gerald) Schulz, Vernon Gruenwald, Diane (Monte) Ortman and Lisa Shirley. Camilla is further survived by her brother John (Nancy) Wiese. She was also preceded in death by her brother Carl Wiese.

Camilla will be remembered by extended family and numerous friends. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the donor’s choice.
