John Carl Marth

John Carl Marth, 55, of West Bend, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.

John was born on Feb. 21, 1951 in West Bend.

Preceding John in death were his parents, William J. Marth and June J. Marth (nee Jones), and a beloved uncle, Robert D. Marth.

John graduated from West Bend High School in 1969 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

He was an accomplished businessman and was an integral part of the family real estate business.

John was known throughout Washington County for residential, investment, commercial and farm property transactions.

John was a loving family man. On Oct. 25, 1975, he married Kathleen Wais at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in La Crosse. Together, they had two daughters, Kath-erine and Kristen.

John will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Kathleen; loving daughters, Katherine T. (Erik) Saylor of Port Edwards and Kris-ten Marth of West Bend; his sister, Sharon E. Marth; a grandson, Ethan Saylor; other relatives and close personal friends.

John enjoyed life to the fullest and was passionate about many sports and gourmet cooking.

He competed in shooting sports for more than 30 years, but particularly enjoyed upland bird hunting, trout fishing and tennis.

Even while battling cancer, John shared his culinary talents by entertaining family and friends, often developing recipes.

A memorial service to honor the full life of John C. Marth will be held on Monday, Jan. 29, at 5 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend.

A gathering of family and friends will also be held at the funeral home on Monday, from 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 5 p.m.
