Ronald H. Conrad

Ronald H. Conrad, 74, of West Bend died on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007 at the Kathy Hospice, town of Polk.

He was born on Dec. 4, 1932 in West Bend to the late Orrin W. and Lucy M. (nee Volz) Conrad.

Being a lifelong resident of West Bend, Ron attended local schools, graduating from West Bend High School.

While in high school, he worked at the former West Bend Canning Co. and Sagerís Menís Apparel. He then began working at Amity Leather Products as a leather finisher, retiring after more than 45 years of employment.

Following his retirement from Amity, he kept busy working as a maintenance man at B.C. Ziegler and Co. and also Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School.

On June 30, 1972, Ron was united in marriage to Donna Newsom in Waukegan, Ill.

Donna predeceased March 30, 1991.

Ron was an avid fan of many different kinds and levels of sports. From high school to professional, from golfing to the Packers, sports were part of his life.

Ron was a charter member of the West Bend Lodge 1398 Loyal Order Of Moose, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Washington County Historical Society, the West Bend Gallery of Fine Arts (now the Wisconsin Museum of Art), Lac Lawrann Conservancy and ARC-Washing-ton County Chapter.

Survivors include four children, Dan (Carol) Schiller of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Linda (Tom) Henn of Navarino, Diana Boehlen of the town of Farmington and Lee "Thomas" (Susan) Schiller of West Bend; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin (Shirley) and Eugene, both of West Bend; a sister, Betty (Bill) Tiefentahler of Redlins, Calif.; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend, with Rev. David Schoob officiating.

Burial will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Union Cemetery, West Bend.

Visitation will be at the church only on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of the services.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made out to the family so they can donate to Ronís favorite charities, some of which will include Trinity Lutheran Church and Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School.

The Schmidt Funeral Home of West Bend is serving the family.
