Interment took place at St. Johnís Cemetery in Mequon. Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg served the family.

Gilbert Peter Guiding-er was born on March 13, 1928 on the family farm located on Donges Bay Road in Mequon, son of the late Louis Charles and Adelia Louise (nee Lueneberg) Guidinger.

Gilbert was born into a farming family, which homesteaded the property in 1841. He enjoyed raising cattle, sheep and other farm crops.

Gil married Joanne Viskoe in 1950. They celebrated their 57th anniversary this year.

He began planting and growing pine trees on the family farm in the 1960s as a hobby. Many of the trees he grew from seedlings can still be seen on the farm which is now "The Pines" subdivision.

Gilbert also worked for the city of Mequon from 1960 until 1990 as a highway department worker. He started his career as a road patrol worker and attained the title of highway superintendent prior to his retirement in 1990.

After his retirement, Gilbert and his wife Jennie moved from the farm and settled in the town of Cedarburg, building a new home and calling it "The Pines II."

Gilbert could always be found riding around on his John Deere tractor or taking care of the flowers and trees in his yard.

He enjoyed a good conversation with anybody who wanted to talk.

Gilbert is survived by his wife Joanne "Jennie" (nee Viskoe); his sons Randy (Marcie) of Saukville and Jeff (Patty) of Cedarburg; grandchildren Andrew and Joel Guidinger of Saukville, Jennifer and Robert Guidinger of Cedarburg; and his brother Leroy (Marlyss) Guidinger of Grafton.
