Florence J. Meyer
Florence J. Meyer, nee Juech, of West Bend died on Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Samaritan Health Center at the age of 92 years.
She was born on March 31, 1915 in West Bend to the late Arthur W. and Caroline A. (nee Reiland) Juech.
After graduating from high school, Florence served with the United States Navy. Following her discharge, she returned to West Bend.
After her marriage to Frederick J. Meyer, they moved to Racine, living there for 15 years. They then returned to West Bend and it was at this time that Florence ran a catering business out of her home for a number of years. She later moved to Green Bay to be closer to her daughter. For the past three years, Florence has been a resident at the Samaritan Health Center.
Florence enjoyed life. As a resident of the Samaritan Health Center, she raised and cared for a butterflies. This story became an article in the Daily News. She also enjoyed traveling to no place in particular, just whereever her travels would take her.
She was a member of the Fred A. Schaefer Post #1393 VFW and the National Catholic Society of Foresters Court #574.
Survivors include four children, Jack of West Bend, Carl "Corky" (Sue) of Kewaskum, Joyce (Dennis) Held of Hatley and Frederick, Jr. (Tracy) of West Bend; 15 grandchildren Eric (Joni), Tanya, John (Kim), Jeremiah, Tashina, Kyra, Ian, Nicole (John) Quillan, Shawn (Jane) Hansen, Troy Hansen, Chris (Kathy) Held, Sami, Max, Jill and Patrick; 16 great-grandchildren; her stepmother, Lucy Keller of Marshfield, a sister-in-law Margaret Duernberger of West Bend; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 26, 1970, two daughters Jill and Margie (Gerald) Krcil and three brothers Wilbur, Martin and Dan Juech.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sunday, June 10 at 4 p.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Moran presiding. Burial of the urn will be in St. Mary's Cemetery (old).
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church only on Sunday from 3:30 until 4 p.m. and also during a reception in the church hall following the Mass.
The Schmidt Funeral Home of West Bend is serving the family.
