Evelyn S. Fischer

Evelyn S. Fischer, nee Philippi, 86, of West Bend died on Monday, June 11, 2007 at River Way Place.

She was born on Aug. 3, 1920 in Bear Creek to the late Alban and Susan (nee Laufer) Philippi.

As a young child, the family moved to the West Bend area where Evelyn attended Holy Angels Grade School and later graduated from West Bend High School in 1938.

Following her marriage to Aaron Fischer on June 10, 1947 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, the couple settled on the Fischer family farm near Newburg.

Aaron predeceased Feb. 25, 1996.

Since Feb. 1, 2007, Evelyn had resided at River Way Place Assisted Living.

Evelyn enjoyed tending to her garden and caring for her dog, Skip and her cats.

Survivors include two brothers and a sister, Edward (Kathy) Philippi, Laverne (Tom) Winkler and Donald (Patricia) Philippi, all of West Bend; nieces and nephews; a special niece, Patsy (Patrick) Hansen; a sister-in-law, Marion "Dolores" Philippi of West Bend; special friends, Tom and Patti Newmann, who were more like a son and daughter to Evelyn; their children, Doug (Dawn) Neumann, Debbie (Chad) Krueger and DJ (Jenny) Neumann and their children, Brittany and Matthew Neumann, Arianna Krueger and Colby Newmann; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Cleary and Jeanette Schmidt-Hausmann; two brothers, Harold Philippi and Wilmer Philippi; a sister-in-law, Mabel Fischer; and three brothers-in-law, A. John Cleary, Donald Schmidt and Leroy Hausmann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 14, at noon at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Newburg, with Fr. Guy Gurath presiding.

Burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation will be at the church only on Thursday from 10 until 11:45 a.m.
