Richard H. "Dick" Fischer
Richard H. "Dick" Fischer, 81, of West Bend, entered into eternal peace at Columbia St. Mary’s Ozaukee on Saturday, June 9, 2007.
Dick was born on Nov. 26, 1925, the son of Richard G. and Isabel (nee Kaufman) Fischer in Oconto.
The family later moved to the Mayville area, where he graduated from Mayville High School in 1943.
On March 2, 1974, Dick married Delores J. "De De" Engeleiter-Strupp.
He was a dedicated employee of Wisconsin Tele-phone Co. as a staff manager for 39 honorable years.
Dick was a Merchant Marine in World War II, and was a member of the Wautoma Lions Club and Telephone Pioneers. He was past president of Dairyland Council of Telephone Pioneers and past president of Chapter Four of Telephone Pioneers.
Dick will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 33 years, Delores; children, Richard (Dorothy) Fischer of Loveland, Colo., Priscilla (John) Strasser and Mary Ann (William) Steitz, both of Germantown, Gail (Daniel) Heinecke of Colgate, Susan (Doug) Clark of Loveland, Steven (Sandy) Strupp of West Bend, Joanne (Tim) DeLeon of Fort Collins, Colo., John Strupp and Marbella Vejar of Chicago, Ill. and Steven (Rhonda) Fischer of Menomonee Falls; his 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by his siblings, Robert (Wanda) Fischer of Oconomowoc, Mary Burke of Waukesha, Millie Hayes of Mukilteo, Wash., Paul (Lee) Fischer of Wilmette, Ill., Ruth Ragatz of Santa Rosa, Calif., Sr. Agnes Fischer of Green Bay, Marge (Larry) Lamphere of Waterford, Mich., Joe (Sandra) Fischer of Tuc-son, Ariz. and Betty (Ron) Rempp of Hender-son, Nev.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lea-trice Strupp, Richard Mollwitz, Min (Wayne) Nokes, Dave (Vi) Enge-leiter and LouAnn (Gary) Riley; other special relatives and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Fischer; a brother, Frank Fischer; his son, Jody D. Strupp; and his first wife, Fern.
A Mass of Christian Burial in memory of Dick will be held on Thursday, June 14, at 7 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 N. Seventh Ave., West Bend, with Father Jeffrey Haines officiating.
Visitation with family and friends will be held at the church only on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of Mass at 7 p.m.
Interment will take place in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, at 11 a.m. on Friday.
So they may make contributions to local charities, in lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the family.
