Betty J. Werner
Betty J. Werner, 69, of the town of Belgium died Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Washington.
She was born Nov. 24, 1937 in West Bend, to Arthur and Gladys (Unch) Troedel, and married Barry Werner, the love of her life, on May 25, 1957 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend.
He preceded her in death Oct. 18, 1997.
Betty will be remembered as the consummate hostess, always making sure that everyone was taken care of.
She began working at the Port Hotel over 30 years ago as a waitress and later she was the hostess. She loved taking care of her people, and even if you didnít have a reservation, she would make room for you with the most special table in the place.
It wasnít a job for Betty, it was a social event.
Betty also loved to dress up and had a pair of earrings that perfectly matched every outfit she owned.
She was a member of St. Maryís Church in Belgium where she served as a eucharistic minister.
Even in her final days she was an inspiration in strength, kindness and dignity, which her family will hold dearly in their hearts.
She will be missed by many, but "Bear" has been waiting to go dancing again.
She is survived by her children, Maxine (Bill) Bowles of Belgium, Max Werner of Random Lake, Marty (Brenda) Werner of Belgium and Matt Werner of Port Washington.
She was a proud grandma to Meagan and Alicia Bowles, Nathan, Carisa, Katie, Joshua, Matthew and Mollie Werner.
She is further survived by sisters, Audrey (Jim) Melchert of Missouri, Patsy (Marty) Schmidt of Plymouth, Leone Hagner, Carol Grissman, Mary Schneider and Susie (Steve) Johnson, all of West Bend; her mother-in-law, Helen Werner and sister-law, Pat (Willie) Krainz, both of Port Washington; other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Arthur Troedel Jr.
Rev. Jim Votjik will officiate funeral services 7 p.m. Monday, June 18, at the Poole Funeral Home, 203 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington.
Cremation with final interment will take place in St. Maryís Cemetery, Lake Church.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday.
