John Patrick Norgel

John Patrick Norgel, 61, passed away at his residence in the loving care of his family after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, June 20, 2007.

John was born to John and Loretta (nee Flarity) Norgel on Sept. 17, 1945 in Milwaukee, where he was also raised.

After graduating from Custer High School in 1964, John honorably dedicated his time to serving his country in the United States Army from 1966-1969.

Upon his return, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout, earning both his bachelorís and masterís degrees in technical education.

John fulfilled his career by landing a teaching position at Steffan Middle School, and later Lake Shore Middle School in the Mequon School District.

He devoted 30 years to mentoring children through teaching.

John loved hunting, fishing, woodworking and was a jack of all trades.

He was past president of WAPVI, chairperson of the Comprehensive Community Ser-vice Agency, and was an active member of many other organizations.

John will be missed and forever loved by his cherished wife of 29 years, Mary Jo (nee Pierick); his son, Christopher (fiancée Katrina Schersing) Norgel of Germantown; daughters, Nicole and Jessica Norgel of West Bend; his mother, Loretta Norgel of Waukesha; his sisters, Alice (Allen) Lemke of California and Cookie (Ken) Krause of German-town; and his brother, Ron (Donna) Norgel of West Bend.

He will also be missed by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Norgel; his son, Michael; and his brother, Douglas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in honor of John on Saturday, June 23, at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 521 Congress, Newburg, with Father Guy Gurath officiating.

The family will visit with family members and friends at the church only on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 1 p.m.

Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend.

A private burial will take place at a later date at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Newburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be offered to several charities to be determined at a later date.
