Harriet Kenealy, 92, of Lomira died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Feb. 17, 1915 to John and Barbara (nee Grzeca) Gromowski in Milwaukee.
On Sept. 26, 1936, she was united in marriage with John J. Kenealy at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
They were married for 54 years. Harriet operated the North Lake Sweet Shop and was a custodian at North Lake Grade School for many years. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy. John and Harriet lived in North Lake before moving to LeRoy in 1979.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Jack) Hurlbert of LeRoy and John (Grayce) Kenealy of Waukesha; grandchildren, Patricia (Terry) Lehner, Victoria (Greg) Hartwig, John (Tina) Kenealy and Kathleen (Jeff) Lemley; nine great-grandchildren; and she is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, on May 6, 1990; three sisters, Sister Mary Clarisse S.S.N.D., Ann Jernatowski and Clara Gromowski; one brother-in-law, Jerry Jernatowski; and one grandson, Michael.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Harriet was Thursday, March 1, 2007 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy, with Rev. Tom Biersack officiating. Visitation was Thursday at the church prior to the Mass. Burial followed the Mass in the church cemetery.
Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville assisted the family.
