James Bernell "Jim" Weis

James Bernell "Jim" Weis, of West Bend, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Kathy Hospice, after 79 years of life.

Jim was born on March 5, 1928, the son of William A. and Frances (nee Rozek) Weis in Milwaukee.

He played professional baseball for the Milwau-kee Brewers in the 1940s.

Jim honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

On Sept. 26, 1953, he married the love of his life, Bernadine "Bernie" Brzezinski at St. Casimir Church in Milwaukee, and later, they began a family of their own.

Jim was a dedicated employee of the city of Milwaukee in various departments throughout his years there.

He was an avid bowler, fisherman, Packers and Brewers fan and a huge lover of dogs.

Jim will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his ability to get the laughs rolling. He was a great husband, and above all else, most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and making them laugh.

Jim was active in the Catholic Church ministries, was a member of the VFW, sang in a barbershop quartet and once conducted the Sammy K Orchestra.

Jim will be deeply missed and forever loved by his beloved wife of 53 years and best friend, Bernadine "Bernie;" his loving children, Bill (Deb) Weis of Germantown, Bob (Sue) Weis of Illinois, John (Chris) Weis of Racine, Diane (John) Todd of West Bend, Chris (Nick) Pritzl of West Bend and Mary (Doug) Bruening of Pewaukee; his treasured grandchildren, Janice, Melissa, Jim, Michael, Timothy, Sarah, Alison, David, Rosie, Nick, Shelly, Andrea, Katie, Amanda, Rachel, Samantha, Mat-thew, Megan, Andrew and Joseph; his cousins, Paul Bruno and Gerry Mills; and his sisters-in-law, Arlene Tadyshak and Gerry Korol.

He will also be greatly remembered by his nieces, nephews, other special relatives and many dear and close friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

A visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 24, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 S. Seventh Ave., West Bend, from 9 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.

Father Jeffrey Haines will officiate, and interment will follow the Mass in Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.
