Norman Grosz, 81, of Armour, S.D., died at Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D. on Wednesday, March 21, 2007.
Norman was born Feb. 1, 1936 near Armour, S.D. to Reinhold and Dorothy (Blume) Grosz. He attended country school near Corsica, S.D. and Armour, graduating from Armour High School in 1943.
Norman entered the U.S. Navy on June 16, 1943, serving on the U.S.S. Pennsylvania, and was discharged on Jan. 24, 1947.
He married Catherine Bigge on Oct. 19, 1950 in Armour.
Norman and his dad owned a trucking business, then he worked at the Mink Ranch in Armour.
Norman moved to West Bend and worked as a machinist at Weasler Engineering, retiring in 1988 and moving back to Armour.
He was a member of the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Armour, the Knights of Colum-bus and VFW.
Norman enjoyed bowling and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine; four children, Glenn Grosz and his wife, Debra of West Bend, Gregg Grosz and his wife, Linda, of Eau Claire, Christel McCarty and her husband, Kevin, of Campbellsport and Roger Grosz and his wife, Jan, of West Bend; a daughter-in-law, Lynn Grosz of West Bend; a sister, Ileen Werkmeister and her husband, Elmer, of Armour; 14 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandson.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and a son, Bruce.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Armour.
Visitation will be Sunday at the church from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
