Beverly J. Bunzel
Beverly J. Bunzel, nee Hoffmann, 77, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2007 at her home in San Jose, Calif.
She was born on March 6, 1930 in Hartford, to Her parents were Raymond "Butch" and Mary (Mountin) Hoffmann, and married Eugene Bunzel on Aug. 1, 1953 in Milwaukee.
She was a graduate of St. Killian’s Elementary School, Hartford, and Hartford High School.
Active in high school sports, Beverly was the first woman to receive an athletic letter from Hartford High School.
After high school Beverly trained as a registered x-ray technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Milwaukee.
She was a resident of Milwaukee and Brown Deer, until the mid-1960s when her family moved to Blackwood, N.J.
In Blackwood Beverly was active in local organizations including Blackwood Swim Club, the Gloucester Township Parks and Recreation (where she was a commissioner), Highland Inter-ested Parents, Teachers and Students Organization (where she served as president) and various other local groups.
Beverly was a substitute teacher at Highland High School for a number of years before starting a career in real estate.
In the mid-1990s she moved with her husband to northern California where four of her five children were living.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Eugene of San Jose; three sons, Mark (Leslie) of Anacortes, Wash.; David (HaeWon) of Cuper-tino, Calif.; Richard (Buni) of Anacortes; and two daughters, Christine (Petri) Virsunen of Los Gatos, Calif. and Mary (Robert) Balton of Dingman’s Ferry, Pa.; and 12 grandchildren, Garrett, Courtney, Breeana, Matt, Lucas, Sheenae, MJ and Nicole Bunzel; Arianne and Jan Virsunen; and Dan and Tess Balton.
Interment is at Los Gatos Memorial Park, Los Gatos.
