Betty Jane "Aunt Betty" Fickler
Betty Jane "Aunt Betty" Fickler, 86, of Harbor Village in Port Washington, passed away at her residence on Monday evening, March 26, 2007.
Betty was born in Milwaukee on Jan. 27, 1921, the daughter of Rollie and Corinne (Jackson) Sickels, the 11th of 13 children.
She was united in marriage with Philip B. Rhodes, who preceded her in death in 1951.
On Nov. 26, 1954 she was united in marriage with Wilbert W. Fickler. The couple lived in Wauwatosa and Milwaukee.
After 40 loving years together, Wilbert passed away in 1995.
Betty moved to Port Washing-ton in 2006 to be closer to family members.
She loved to sew and made many outfits for children, as well as wedding dresses and veils.
She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially birthday cakes and cookies.
Betty was a "babysitter extraordinare" and helped many of her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews when it came to looking after their children.
She also enjoyed playing cards, was a member of various card clubs and the Senior Theatre Club in Milwaukee.
Survivors a sister, Verdell (Jim) DeYarman of Milwaukee; sisters-in-law, Lillian Fischer of Monona, Lillian Fickler of Ore-gon and Ann Sickels of Milwau-kee; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Philip B. Rhodes; her second husband, Wilbert W. Fickler; and 11 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held for Betty on Saturday, April 21, 11 a.m. at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, 505 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, with Pastor David Guse officiating.
The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday, April 21, from 10-11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Seasons Hospice of Glendale or Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, Port Washington.
The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is assisting the family.
