La Verne Olson

La Verne Olson, 75, of Hartford passed to eternal life on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the Hartford Care Center.

He was born Feb. 5, 1932 in Ettrick, to Oscar and Selma (nee Trones) Olson, and married Lorena Albin on July 29, 1961 at Ev. United Brethren Church in Hartford.

Vern attended Blair High School.

He worked for Chrysler Outboard for 20 years.

He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Courtney-Carr-Milner American Legion Post 19 in Hartford, a member of the Hartford Auxiliary Police from 1961-1972 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed watching TV, country music and listening to WTKM Radio.

Vern was so proud of his children and grandchildren whom he loved very much.

Survivors include his wife, Lorena; his children, Barbara (Perry) Hahn, David (Brenda) Olson and Diane (Michael) Kaminski, all of Hartford; 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Adam (fiancˇe Sarissa) and Austin Hahn, Shelly, Jake, Josh and Jarod Olson, Emma, Noah and Luke Kaminski; two sisters, Ila (Ansel) Remus of Galesville and Elaine (Alvin) Horn of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Arde Nicolaus and Berde Rateau.

Vern is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Otto and Adeline (nee Kessel) Albin; and a brother-in-law, Carl Nicolaus.

Funeral services for Vern will be held Tuesday, May 8, at 7 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, with Rev. Brian Kundinger officiating.

Family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday at the funeralhome from 4-7 p.m.

Interment will be in at Cedar Park Cemetery, Richfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hartford High School weight room, the Schauer Arts Center or First United Methodist Church are appreciated.
