Robert "Bob" R. Stecker

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Robert "Bob" R. Stecker of Cedarburg at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 11, at St. Francis Borgia North Catholic Church in Cedarburg. Robert died at the age of 84 on Friday, May 4, 2007 at the Lasata Care Center. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 10, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with an American Legion walk-through at 7 p.m. Interment with military honors will take place at Immanuel Cemetery on Friday, immediately following the Mass. Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg is serving the family.

Bob was born in Neenah on June 29, 1922, the son of the late Edmund and Lillian (nee Reimer) Stecker. On Jan. 20, 1945, he was united in marriage to Erna (nee Jaeger) at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Bob served with the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific during World War II. As a tail gunner, he saw action at Bougainville, for which he later received the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Bob was a member of Peter Wollner Post 288 American Legion in Cedarburg, a longtime member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. As an avid sportsman, he spent many hours in the field with his dogs and on the water fishing, introducing his children and grandchildren to the outdoors at his favored Pincherry.

Robert is survived by his wife Erna; children Richard (Sharon) Stecker, Thomas (Sherry) Stecker and Lori (Kevin) McKinnon; grandchildren Theresa, Michelle, Andrew, Scott and Jenna Stecker, Stacy (Jared) Black and Chris McKinnon; great-grandson Dillon; and his brother Eugene Stecker. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his brothers Gerritt, Dudley, Edmund "Junior" and Russel.
