Merrel R. Stockey, Ph.D.

Funeral services will be held for Merrel R. Stockey, Ph.D. of Mequon at 7 p.m. this evening, May 8, at St. Paulís Ev. Lutheran Church (8080 N. 47 St.) in Brown Deer. Merrel passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the age of 91. The Rev. John Kelling will officiate the funeral service. Family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, from 5 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. The burial will be private. Schmidt & Bartelt funeral home in Mequon is serving the family.

Merrel proudly served his country in World War II. He was a psychologist for 40 years at MATC.

Merrel touched many peopleís lives. He never met a person who did not become a friend. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.

Merrel was the beloved husband and best friend of Audrey (nee Vittallo), Ph.D.; the loving father of Douglas Stockey (Claudia Krueger) and Jan Stockey-Askin (Tom Askin); the proud grandfather of Molly Stockey Askin and Kelcey (fiancee Chad Blanton) Stockey; and the dear brother-in-law of Robert Vittallo. He is further survived by two nieces and many friends.

Merrel was preceded in death by his first wife June (nee Wollensak), and his sister Helen (the late Bob) Crowley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Merrelís name may be directed to the St. Paulís Ev. Lutheran Church or the Washington or Ozaukee County Humane Societies.
