La Verne Olson

La Verne Olson of Hartford passed to eternal life on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the Hartford Care Center. He was 75 years old.

He was born Feb. 5, 1932 in Ettrick to Oscar and Selma (nee Trones) Olson. He married Lorena Albin on July 29, 1961 at Ev. United Brethren Church in Hartford.

Vern attended Melrose High School. He worked for the Chrysler Outboard for 20 years. He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Courtney-Carr-Milner American Legion Post #19 in Hartford. He was a member of the Hartford Auxiliary Police from 1961-1972. Vern was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed watching TV, country music and listening to WTKM radio. Vern was so proud of his children and grandchildren whom he loved very much.

Vern is survived by his wife Lorena; his children, Barbara (Perry) Hahn, David (Brenda) Olson and Diane (Michael) Kaminski, all of Hartford; 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Adam (fiancˇ, Sarissa), and Austin Hahn, Shelly, Jake, Josh, Jarod Olson, Emma, Noah and Luke Kaminski; two sisters, Ila (Ansel) Remus of Galesville and Elaine (Alvin) Horn of Minneapolis; and two sisters-in-law, Arde Nicolaus and Berde Rateau. Vern is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Otto and Adeline (nee Kessel) Albin; and a brother-in-law, Carl Nicolaus.

Funeral services for Vern were Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford, with Rev. Brian Kundinger officiating. Family greeted relatives and friends on Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment was at Cedar Park Cemetery in Richfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hartford High School Weight Room, Schauer Arts Center or First United Methodist Church are appreciated.

The family offers a special thank you to Dr. Chen, Hartford Health Care Center and Heartland Hospice for their loving care and concern for Vern.
