Etta E. Starr

Etta E. Starr, nee Burns, of West Bend died on Friday, May 18, 2007 at the Samaritan Health Center at the age of 92. She was born on April 17, 1915 in Whitner, Arkansas to the late Jacob and Olliebelle (nee Thomas) Burns.

At an early age, the family moved to the Slick, Okla. area, where she attended local schools, graduating from Slick High School. After moving to Corpus Christi, Texas, as a young adult, she became employed at a bank there.

On Jan. 3, 1942, she was united in marriage to Frederick Starr in Corpus Christi. Frederick predeceased March 8, 1988.

Due to her husbandís career as a naval aviator, then a test pilot and later in government services, the family lived in many different places around the United States. Following Frederickís retirement in 1961, the family settled in Menomonee Falls, and since 1977, Etta has lived in Jackson.

Survivors include four children, Annabelle (Ronald) Kert-scher of Saukville, Rick (Dulcie Arnold) of Cortlant Manor, N.Y., Michael (Margaret) of Hubertus and Mary Beth (Edward) Ebert of Waukesha; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Marcel (Rose-mary) Starr and their children Suzanne, Mark, Kathleen and Greg; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by five brothers Jack, Earl, Richard, Troy and Roy.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, Jackson, with Chaplain Cheryl Matusiak officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 7:15 p.m.
