A funeral service for Esther Dowe was held on May 20, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Lakefield. The Rev. Darryl Knox officiated at the ceremony. Interment was at St. Johnís Cemetery following the service.
Mrs. Dowe was born Feb. 21, 1916, in Oak Creek to the late Emil and the late Mabel Weber.
She graduated from South Milwaukee High School. She met Fred Dowe while dancing at the Eagles Club in Milwaukee. They married Nov. 16, 1940 and raised their family on the Dowe Homestead Farm in Mequon. She retired after 15 years of working at St. Alphonses Hospital as a nurses assistant. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and attending activities, especially ones involving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Esther enjoyed working at her church, baking desserts, quilting and spending time with her friends.
Survivors include: daughters Barbara (Alfred) Falk, Maggie (Dennis) Seideman of West Bend; grandchildren Robert (Jane) and Kenneth (Wendy) of West Bend, Steven (Cheri) Falk of Kewaskum, Brian (Lisa) Seideman of Campbellsport, Robert (Tammy) Callison of Gilbert of Arizona and Deborah (Christopher) Genthe of West Bend; great-grandchildren Brittany, John, Emily, Benjamin, Kalie, Brennan, Kevin, Ryan, Ana, Amelia and Shelby. She is also survived by other relatives and friends. Neighbors, Dick and Phyllis Didier and Roger Rahn will miss seeing Esther in her garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, son Freddie, two brothers, a sister, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
