Bertha E. "Birdie" Wolf
Bertha E. "Birdie" Wolf, 73, of Mountain, formerly of West Bend, died in a Mountain hospital following complications from a recent stroke suffered at her home.
Birdie was born May 5, 1934 in Schickshinny, Pa., to the late Carl and Beulah (nee Keiper) Krouse, and married Kenneth Wolf on Sept. 6, 1952 in Mildred, Pa.
The couple lived and worked in West Bend where Birdie was employed at West Bend for many years.
They retired in 1986 and moved to Mountain in 1999.
Birdie was a member of the Mountain Walkie Talkies exercise group, breakfast club, Mountain Slick Chicks, Mountain Red Hatters and the Crooked Lake-Mountain Lions Club.
She loved to fish the river from her home riverbank, and truly had a green thumb as shown by her flower and vegetable gardens.
She was a member of St. Michaelís Catholic Church Chapel-Chute Pond.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ken; a daughter and her family, Joan "Squeak" (Thomas) Weiss of West Bend; three sons and their families, John (Chris) Wolf of Plymouth, Russ (Bonnie) Wolf of Rockford, Mich. and Fred (Cindy) Wolf of West Bend; two sisters, Beatrice Sitko and Marie, both of Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Rudy Teschan of New Berlin.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Karen Teschan in 2006; a granddaughter, Ginny Jo Weiss in 1982; three brothers, Arnold, Jerry and Leon; and a sister, Millie Bushofsky.
Visitation will be held at St. Michaelís Catholic Church Chapel-Chute Pond, on Wednes-day, May 30, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the funeral services at 11 a.m.
Father Joe Coopmans will officiate, and burial will be in Mountain Cemetery.
The Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, Suring, is in charge of arrangements.
