Myra M. Raymond

Myra M. Raymond, 87, (nee Lampton), former longtime resident of Shorewood and Mequon, was born to eternal life on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Percy F. Raymond.

Myra was born on March 12, 1920 in Soudan, Minn., the loving daughter of John Henry and Hannah Maria (nee Anunti) Lampton. She was the youngest in a family which included five sisters and five brothers, all who preceded her in death.

She grew up in Soudan and graduated from high school there.

She studied to be a beautician.

During World War II, Myra was one of the "Rosie" riveters. On Aug. 31, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minn., Myra became the beloved wife of Percy F. Raymond.

Together they raised two sons, Robert (Kristine) of Grafton and Jack (Susan) of Port Washington.

In 1950, the family moved to Shorewood.

She is also survived by four grandchildren Jenna Elizabeth and Kara Lyn, children of Robert and Kristine; and Timothy and Kristin (Jeffrey) Robinson, children of Jack and Susan. Further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Myra and her husband Percy started and shared a successful family business, Raymond Equipment Co., an automotive and truck supply company.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Kingo Lutheran Church in Shorewood. Private interment took place at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Memorials in Myra’s name may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family wishes to extend special thanks for the kind and tender care Myra received from the Harbor Cove staff in Port Washington and from Hospice Advantage in Sheboygan, with special gratitude to Melinda Palmer, RN.
