Iris E. (Young) Prefontaine

Iris E. (Young) Prefontaine, 91, of Shawano passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at the Birch Hill Health Care Center of Shawano.

She was born on Aug. 22, 1916 in the town of Maine, daugher of the late Laurel and Irene (Leeman) (Cavner) Palmer.

She graduated from the St. Vincent School of Nursing and worked at Theda Clark Medical Center, eventually specializing in geriatric nursing.

Iris was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Shawano, a member of the Christian Mothers Society (CCW), a member of the Shawano Hospital Auxilliary, and a former member of the Fox Valley LPN Associa-tion.

She was also a member of the Wisconsin State Polka Boosters Club and charter member of the University of Wisconsin-Wash-ington County, West Bend.

Survivors include a daughter, Priscilla Darling of Menasha; a son, Roger (Beverly) Young of Iola; a son-in-law, Leland Peeters, of Navarino; 14 grandchildren, Dawin (Cindy) Peeters, Daniel (Val) Peeters, Dennis (Debbie) Peeters, Cyndi (Joe) Meidam, Larry (Robin) Peeters, Judy (Jim) Hesse, Timothy Peeters, Todd (Stephanie Theimer) Darling, Tammy (Rob) McAuley, Rory (Kim) Young, Michelle Schwem-er, Christine (Bob) Heller; Eliza-beth (Brian) Bricko and Alan (Luann) Young; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Julie Carlsen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Raymond Young in 1967; her second husband, Kenneth Prefon-taine in 2005; a sister, Violet VanRight; a daugher, Monica (Leland) Peeters in 2000; and her great-grandson, Scott R. Young in 2006.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Shawano with Father Len Evers, officiating.

Interment was in St. Margaret Cemetery of Neenah.

The Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano was in charge of the arrangements.
