Dr. William "Bill" W. Chandler

Dr. William "Bill" W. Chandler of Appleton passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007 in Appleton.

Wichmann Funeral Home in Appleton is serving the family.

Bill graduated from Wauwatosa High School. At the age of 16, he enrolled at Marquette University and then attended Marquette University Medical School.

During college and medical school, Bill played for the Marquette basketball team for five years and was the only player elected captain for three years.

His father, William S. Chandler, was the Marquette basketball coach. They were the original father/son combination at Marquette.

Bill was the first-ever recipient of the Robert McCahill Award for athletic ability, scholarship and leadership, the highest honor for a Marquette University student.

Bill became a prominent physician and community leader in Appleton.

Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Paula (Cornish) Chandler; and his daughters Nancy (Tim) Wilkinson and their children Bo and Dibet; Mary (Tim) Radtke and their children, Andy, Tommy, Katie, Johnny and Jimmy; Anne Branum and her children Marie, Jeni and Willie Moran; and Susan Chandler and her children, Mikey, Kevin and Paula Scherer.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Billís name.
