Bob was born in Saukville on Jan. 29, 1937, the son of Henry and Julia (Miller) Hoffmann. He lived on the family farm until he enlisted in the military in 1956.
Bob married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen Goeden, in 1958. They settled in Mary Ellen’s hometown of Grafton, where they rais-ed six children.
Bob started his own construction business in 1959 and through the years, with his son Jim, had built many homes and apartments in and around Ozaukee County.
Bob enjoyed racing snowmobiles. This led him to open a secondary business, Valley Sports, from 1968-79, where he sold Rupp snowmobiles and also motorcycles.
He was a member of the Sno-Drifters Snowmobile Club and took great pleasure in snowmobiling and motorcycling with family and friends until he began his battle with pancreatic cancer at the end of 2006.
Bob was a true lover of the outdoors and a sportsman who enjoyed hunting coon, deer, turkey and bear.
His love for these activities led to his dedicated role on the Wisconsin Conservation Congress Board.
He hunted bear for the last 25 years with his son Patrick and friends, and did so right up until the day before he passed away.
He truly did what he loved to do until his body simply wouldn’t allow it another day.
Bob also loved to garden. In the latter years, his gardening ex-panded to include his beautiful lilies, gladiolas and roses.
