Donald John Dukelow
Donald John Dukelow, 83, of Algoma, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007 at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit.
He was born Nov. 22, 1923 in Hartford, to Ray and Anna (Hetzel) Dukelow.
Donald entered the U.S. Navy and served during World War II in the Pacific. After his discharge he worked at the Chrysler Corp., Wacker Corp. and Bayship Yards in Sturgeon Bay until he retired.
During his retirement he was caretaker at St. Mary Cemetery for many years, a member of the VFW, 28 continuous years with the American Legion, a lifetime member of the the Knights of Columbus and was very active at St. Mary Parish, including being a Communion distributor,
Donald enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and square dancing with the Cool City Square Dancers Club.
Donald married Rosemarie Klink July 27, 1946; she preceded him in death June 19, 1976.
Then he married Louise (Delorit) Baudhuin on July 29, 1978 in Algoma.
Survivors include his wife Louise; his children, Gloria Hintz, John (Jean) Dukelow, Janet (Randy) Schmidt, Carol (David) Medvic, Wilbert Dukelow, Ronald (Mary) Dukelow, Peter Dukelow, Joyce Hoganson, Patricia (James) Quandt and Eileen Toth; stepchildren, Judith Wiese and Lois (Duane) Haen; one sister, Jean Gandy; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his first wife Rosemarie; a son, Robert; a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Rass; sons-in-law, Eldon Hintz and Joe Toth; two brothers, Clyde and Howard Dukelow; and one sister, Patricia Neu.
Friends may gather at St. Mary Catholic Church, Algoma,on Friday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m with Rev. William Swichten-berg officiating.
Full military rites will be at the church after the Mass, and burial will be in St. Bartholomew Cemetery in Neosho, on Saturday at 1 p.m. with graveside services.
The Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, is assisting the family with arrangements.
