Harold E. Klimke

Funeral services for Harold E. Klimke of Mequon were held on Oct. 17 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Freistadt.

Harold died at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007 at the age of 86.

Visitation was held at the church on Wednesday and interment took place at the church cemetery. Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg served the family.

Harold was born in Montello on May 13, 1921, the son of the late Otto E. and Pauline (nee Kluth) Klimke.

On May 31, 1952, he was united in marriage to Hilda Schoessow.

A veteran, Harold served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member and former commander of the Mequon-Thiensville VFW Post 9207 and a member of the Mequon American Legion.

Harold was also a retired member of the Mequon Police Reserves and an active member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church.

His favorite pastimes included woodworking, fixing automobiles, football, traveling to Marine Corps reunions and most importantly his family.

Harold is survived by his wife Hilda; his children Joanne (Rich-ard) Behling, Marilyn (James) Radtke, Carol Klimke, Laurel (Gerald) Wollin and the late Virginia (Darrell) Fletcher; grandchildren Sarah (Michael) Tara-boi, Jason Behling, Matthew Behling, Scott Fletcher, Daniel Radtke, Rachel Radtke and Nicholas Wollin; great-grandchildren Jacob Behling, Michael Taraboi and Daniel Taraboi; sister Dorothy Grant; brother Eldon (Wilma) Klimke; sisters-in-law Hertha (James) Bartlett, Darlene Schoessow, Melrie Schoessow and Myrtle Acterberg; and his brother-in-law Norman (Carolyn) Abbiehl. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
